Tips
Bigger boards(50L+):
- Catch waves earlier than shorts
- More time to pop-up
Smaller boards(like Torq 6'8 and below):
- Need to position exactly where the wave breaks
- Do the angled take-off
- Try to stay high on the wave, don't get into flats
- In glassy conditions - pop up really quick
Breaks
- Beach - waves break randomly
- Point/Reef - waves break in the same place, in the same direction
Other
- Do swimming laps, rubber band stretches before travel
- Preserve the energy
- when paddling out find a channel, wait until the end of the set instead of paddling into it
- only paddle onto the waves you're sure you'll catch, commit
- get out if you can't paddle effective anymore
- Stay closer to the break, it's way easier to catch waves there
- If you nosedive because the waves are too steep - do the angled take-off
- Hydrate, don't drink alcohol
- Eat high protein food
- Sleep enough
- Stretch after the session
